A dispatch desk that starts with your clock, not the load board

MileCaptain is a truck dispatch service for owner-operators and small fleets. We find and negotiate freight, handle broker paperwork and check calls, and plan every load around the hours you can legally drive. Then the rate confirmation goes to you, and you decide.

DISPATCH DESK · 02:10
BOARD 01THE STORY

Why we built the desk this way

Most dispatch problems we hear about aren't really about rates. They're about time. A load that looked great on the board needed 13 hours of driving to deliver on time. A pickup was set for 6 a.m. when the driver's 10-hour break ended at 9. A reload was booked 200 empty miles away at the end of a long day. The rate was fine; the plan was impossible.

So we start every load with the driver's clock: how many driving hours are left today, where the 14-hour window ends, how much of the 70-hour cycle is used, and when the next 10-hour break has to start. Only loads that fit those numbers get offered. That's also why this site has so many hours of service guides and calculators: we use the same rules every day on the desk, and we'd rather drivers understand them than take our word for it.

The second thing we decided early: the carrier says yes to every load. The rate confirmation goes straight to you, and you can turn any load down without a reason or a penalty. We book nothing on your behalf without that yes.

The desk

Our dispatchers work with 11 equipment types, all treated the same: box trucks from 26 ft, hotshots, dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, step decks, power only, car haulers, dump trucks, oversize, and hazmat and tankers. We don't dispatch cargo vans or sprinters, or box trucks under 26 ft. The fee depends on your authority age and fleet size, never on your equipment.
